Sleep Options Memory Foam Mattress, Natural Latex Mattress, Pillows, Sleep AccessoriesNo matter what kind of mattress that you are sleeping on, it is important to make sure that you are getting a good value of time from your bed. We’re not speaking about how long you sleep in it, but rather how long your mattress should last you. Typically, a mattress that is kept in good condition will last for 7-10 years. If you find that your old mattresses have not lasted this long, there are some measures that can be taken to help keep your mattress quality high for a longer period of time.

1. Buy a Memory Foam Mattress

Memory foam mattresses typically last longer than innerspring mattresses because of the material in which they are made from. When purchasing a high quality memory foam mattress, you can expect to see your mattress last for 10 years or longer. The density of the foam helps to give these types of bedding a greater lifespan because of its recovery period. A general rule of thumb is that the thicker the density of memory foam, the longer it lasts!

2. Keep Your Mattress Clean!

Vacuuming your mattress regularly helps to keep it free from allergens. It also helps to remove any dust or dirt that would typically produce stains if your mattress were to ever get wet. Removal of these particles keeps your bed fresh, and reduces any risk of producing certain mites that can set off allergic reactions.

3. Use a Padded Mattress Cover

A padded mattress cover not only further prevents dirt, dust and stains, but also helps to prevent dents that may occur in mattresses over time. In order to make the best use of your mattress cover, make sure to wash it in warm water once a week to keep it clean! If you do not take proper care of your mattress cover, it can lose effectiveness in as little as two years.

4. Flip or Rotate Your Mattress Often

If you are currently using a one-sided pillow top mattress, it is important that you rotate it 180 degrees every few months. If you are currently sleeping on a memory foam mattress, latex foam mattress, or two-sided innerspring mattress, make sure that you flip it every few months in order to keep the wear even.

5. Buy a Memory Foam Mattress Topper

Although innerspring mattresses typically do not last as long as memory foam mattresses, you still have the ability to preserve its lifespan with memory foam products. By placing a memory foam mattress topper on your innerspring bed, you are preventing sagging or wear in your mattress below. Why not preserve your mattress and sleep more comfortably at night? It’s a win-win situation!
